STILWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State University Collegiate FFA Alumni and Friends chapter elected a team of officers to serve throughout the 2020 term on Nov. 12.
The election of the new team, which will take office in January 2020, is one of the last big moments in what has been a highly successful year for Collegiate FFA, said current President Tia Rozell.
“This year was very much member-driven,” said Rozell. “We have a lot of good people in it right now that are driven and that want to see it succeed.”
The FFA Alumni and Friends chapter at Oklahoma State University is the longest-standing collegiate chapter in the United States, said Rozell. Originally started as a club for students majoring in agricultural education, Rozell said the chapter includes diverse backgrounds and interests, all people with a focus on service.
“It’s really whoever wants to be involved and we just try to help our community and other FFA members and then the college,” Rozell said.
Part of the success the club has seen this year comes from the efforts of the past several officer teams working hard to build engagement and membership, said Rozell. She added that the success of the club reaches beyond the college campus and benefits future FFA members and the agricultural community.
“It’s all these different backgrounds that are coming in and it’s changing our industry,” said Rozell. “We are really just serving our college and our community and that is the whole point of it.”
The Oklahoma State University Collegiate FFA Alumni and Friends chapter is a club for Agricultural Education majors, but also represents the agricultural community, serves current FFA members and is a home for FFA alumni.
